Powerful ‘Carmina Burana’ performance caps Arts and Humanities Showcase

The weeklong series of events kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday, April 19, with Arts in Motion, a celebration of the College of Arts and Humanities’ top students. The showcase culminates with two live performances of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” an emotional spectacle of music and might, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27.

Creator of iconic Bulldog logo receives a Certificate in Art

Joseph Garcia received a Certificate in Art from the College of Arts and Humanities at Fresno State and the College of Arts and Humanities while wearing a letterman’s jacket with his famous four-paw Bulldogs logo on the sleeve and a necklace with a photo of his late wife in her graduation regalia.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at St. John’s Cathedral in Downtown Fresno. The Mass will be followed by a reception from 1-3 p.m. at the Phebe Conley Art Gallery at Fresno State.

Art Education Series begins with a panel on confronting anti-Asian Racism

Alumna Kaelyn Rodríguez explores connections of ethnicity, history and art in LA

Alumna Kaelyn Rodríguez in her Ph.D. robes from UCLA.

Rodríguez began her journey in higher education at Fresno as an Art/Art History major. Following her graduation in 2012, she went on to get her Master’s in Art History from UC Riverside in 2014, followed by a Master’s in Chicana/o Studies from UCLA in 2016. Just months ago, she achieved her Ph.D. in Chicana/o Studies from UCLA.

From that moment, everything quickly moved into motion as Dr. Gordo Peláez agreed with the idea and offered art history as a start to teach new vocabulary and create new lessons in Spanish. He was joined by Hernández. Castillo wrote a proposal outlining the necessity of a program and sent it to then Dean Jiménez-Sandoval. The rest was history as the Teachers’ Academy was approved and housed under MCLL.
