Kindle Lynn Cowger, an acting student from the Department of Theatre Arts, was crowned Miss Fresno County 2018 in March. She achieved this success during the last semester of her undergraduate work, completing her Bachelor of Arts degree this spring. Cowger will now be competing for Miss California, a volunteer-based non-profit organization, June 27-30.
Congratulations to philosophy professors Dr. Andrew Fiala and Dr. Veena R. Howard for their involvement with the recently published philosophy handbook The Routledge Handbook of Pacifism and Nonviolence. Each of these professors of the Department of Philosophy provided chapters for the book, with Fiala also acting as the general editor for the overall work.

The Fresno Summer Orchestra Academy (FOOSA), a project of Youth Orchestras of Fresno (YOOF) and Fresno State’s Department of Music, is holding its two-week intensive program June 10-24, on the Fresno State campus. The program centers around the FOOSA Philharmonic, a selective pre-professional level orchestra that provides graduate school, college and high school musicians the opportunity to learn from and work alongside professionals and faculty members.
