Fresno State big bands to open for trumpeter Ralph Alessi in jazz concert

The Fresno State Jazz Orchestra directed by Richard Lloyd Giddens Jr. and The Fresno State Jazz Ensemble directed by Les Nunes will open for trumpeter and composer Ralph Alessi at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29 in the Concert Hall.

Alessi has recorded nine albums of original compositions which draw on everything from post-bop to neo classical music. As an educator, Ralph is an assistant professor of Jazz Studies at the University of Nevada-Reno as well as the director of the School for Improvisational Music.

Tickets are $15 general, $10 for employees and seniors and $5 for students. Reservations are suggested and parking is $5 in lot P1.
