Pianist Mauricio Náder will kick off the 46th season of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concert Series at Fresno State. The series opens at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, in the Concert Hall. The Mexican Consulate of Fresno and Arte Américas are co-sponsors of this event.

“The Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concert Series brings to campus the most renowned pianists in the world. This year, we’ll have the opportunity to again experience the magic, warmth, and beauty that only piano virtuosos can conjure –from a 2016 Grammy Award nominee to winners of international piano competitions,” said Dr. Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities. “The series begins with one of Mexico’s most renowned pianists, Mauricio Náder, whose performance marks the beginning of a spectacular and exhilarating season.”

Náder will perform works by Carrasco, Chávez, Castro, Morales, R. Halffter, Águila, Camacho, Nazareth, Gershwin and Muczynski.

The Houston Chronicle said of Náder: “Today, no other Mexican pianist matches Mauricio Náder’s busy concert schedule, precise technique and intense passion.”

Náder has produced more than 30 compact discs spanning repertoire from the Baroque to the 21st century. He has performed in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. His efforts in promoting Mexican Music have resulted in appearances at major venues in Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York, Beijing, Oslo, Paris, Lisbon, Río de Janeiro, and Guayaquil, among others.

“The Keyboard Concert Series exists to enhance the quality of life in our community,” said artistic director Andreas Werz, “by bringing highly acclaimed international artists here to perform.”
