As part of their Fall 2023 campus project update, Facilities Management released an update on the new concert hall for the College of Arts and Humanities.

The update stated:

“A Request for Proposals was extended to pre-qualified CSU national design teams for a 1,000-seat concert hall for the College of Arts and Humanities. This new building will be located at the site of the Lab School, immediately east of the existing Student Health and Counseling Center and the southern edge of Keats Avenue. Proposals received will be evaluated, and an architectural design team will be selected in the fall.”

Fresno State’s current concert hall seats about 270 and was initially constructed in 1991 as a choral and opera rehearsal hall before being retrofitted to function as a concert hall. It’s a busy space that hosts about 60 events and festivals per school year – not including the student recitals required for many programs. It is also used by CSU Summer Arts and the FOOSA program during the Summer. Many concerts and events are open to the public and provide affordable artistic enrichment to the community.
