Student of Distinction: Jordan Pulido

Jordan Pulido is graduating with an M.A. in performance with an emphasis in choral conducting. He is the Dean’s Medal nominee for the Department of Music.

“Jordan is very passionate about his art and has a strong desire to share that passion with not only his current colleagues but future music students. He has been a great mentor to our undergrads. Jordan has spent countless hours at my side trying to learn all he can to one day run his own choral program,” said Dr. Cari Earnhart, professor. “Jordan has excelled during his time at Fresno State, and I am excited to see what lies ahead for him.”

Jordan was born and raised in Fresno, where his love for music was fostered at an early age. Pulido attended Clovis North Educational Center and has been a student at Fresno State since 2016. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in music education with an emphasis in vocal and choral education.

Throughout his educational career at Fresno State, Jordan has been involved in many facets within the music department. He has worked in the music office, as a concert staff and has helped run the choral department as the graduate assistant. Outside of school, Jordan has participated in many musical endeavors throughout the western part of the United States, including ACDA honor choirs, community choirs and art academies.

“His passion and determination for quality have yielded countless performances of a very high caliber. His organization and communication skills, as well as his volunteer work and involvement with other group-led projects, have many times highlighted his exemplary leadership and teaching skills. He has consistently demonstrated an indefatigable drive that has shaped him into the fine artist, scholar, and mentor that younger students look up to,” said Dr. Drew Quiring.

After receiving his graduate degree, Jordan hopes to go on to teach the youth of America and reinvigorate the love and need for music in schools.
