The Armenian Studies Program and Armenian Student Organization will commemorate the 104th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide at the Armenian Genocide Monument at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 at the Maple Mall (south of the Satellite Student Union).
The event will include the American and Armenian national anthems performed by the St. Paul Armenian Church Saturday Armenian School. Hunter Sansom, A.S.I. senator for the College of Arts and Humanities will speak followed by poems, dances, music and the laying of flowers at the monument.

At 6 p.m., the Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee of Fresno invites the community as flowered are laid around the center of the monument followed by a religious service. The Armenian Genocide Essay Competition winners will present their keynote speeches, followed by remarks from Fresno State President Dr. Joseph Castro. Parking will be relaxed in lots P1, P5 and P6 for the evening event.
The events mark the anniversary of the April 24, 1915 arrests of Armenian intellectuals and leaders by the Ottoman Empire which started a genocide in which 1.5 million Armenians were killed.
