“Moving Through the Static” is an entertaining and thought-provoking evening of contemporary dance. Six different repertory dance works will be presented; the themes of identity, relationships, absurdity, competition, humor, and psychological insight will fill the stage. World premieres include “Under the Invisible Forces” by guest artist Fumihro Kikuchi, “From… last nights attempted restless sleep” by CDE Artistic Director Kenneth Balint, “Somewhere to Lay My Head” by Rogelio Lopez and Kenneth Balint, “Salvation” by Caitlin Gainey and “Flesh is Gone, Spirit is Near” by Nathalie Contreras. Rounding out the program will be the return of Balint’s powerful contemporary duet “Friction Brings Fatigue” which premiered at Fresno State in 2005.
Ranging from intense poetic statements to the abstract the dancers move through a wide range movement potential. And as the concert’s title suggests through the static of our contemporary lifestyles and environment.
The ensemble includes dancers Jazmin Alvarado, Nathalie Contreras, Ashley Del Rio, Dulce Flores, Caitlin Gainey, Jessica Lopez, Christin Perez, Samantha Roberts, Zach Segovia and Sahar Shahnematollahi.
CDE develops its programming with attention to the diversity within the dance field, as well as within its viewing audience. The goal is to welcome, embrace, educate and inspire those who see it and those who dance it. Join the CDE dancers in their journey as they move through the static.
