Every year, over a thousand alumni and friends of Fresno State gather for The Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala to honor one distinguished alum from each college. Ahead of the gala, the College of Arts and Humanities invites past Top Dog recipients, College of Arts and Humanities Advisory Board (AHAB) members, emeriti faculty, and student ambassadors to welcome the current year’s Top Dog at a luncheon.
The 2018 Top Dog Recipient for the College of Arts and Humanities is Dr. Gerald R. McMenamin.
McMenamin is Fresno State Professor Emeritus of Linguistics. He started at Fresno State in 1980, after teaching assignments at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, University of Delaware, and UCLA. He is the author of various studies on language acquisition, linguistic variation, and forensic linguistics, among the latter: Forensic Stylistics (Elsevier), Forensic Linguistics (CRC Press), and recently Introducción a la lingüística forense (The Press at CSU Fresno).
Dr. McMenamin also served five years as a member of the Fresno Unified School Board. He now consults in forensic linguistics, and has testified as an expert witness in US District and State courts; in foreign courts of Canada, England, France, the Philippines, and Switzerland; and before the World Court of The Hague.
