Artists travel from India for an evening of Classical Hindustani music

Indian slide guitarist Pandit Debasis Chakroborty will be performing with special guest Dr. Lovely Sharma on sitar,  accompanied on the tabla by Pandit Shashanka Bakshi at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23 in the Wahlberg Recital Hall located in the Music Building at Fresno State.

General admission tickets are $15 and will be available for purchase on hour before the concert in the Music building box office. Admission is free for Fresno State students with I.D.

Chakroborty will be performing on an improvised slide guitar alongside the classical Indian string and percussion instruments. The ensemble frequently appears on regional and national radio and TV stations in India, and have performed internationally in Australia, South Korea, China, Japan, middle east countries, Malaysia, and Italy.

Dr. Lovely Sharma serves as Vice-Chancellor of Raja Man Singh Tomer University, Gwalior in central India. Pundit Chakroborty is Associate Professor of music at Institute of visual, performing arts & research at Mangalayata University, Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh State.

Parking is recommended in P1 LOT C, a $4 parking permit can be obtained at the dispenser.
