Music of America Concert Series: Fresno Blues Review Sept. 9

The Music of America Concert Series presents “The Fresno Blues Review” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, in Fresno State’s Satellite Student Union.  The concert will feature four local blues acts:  Bobby Logan, Ed Burke, Square One and Deja Blues.

Dr. John Karr, who teaches music history and ethnomusicology in the Department of Music, says the Music of America series is devoted to traditional American music – bluegrass, folk, blues, gospel, country, mariachi, music nortena, zydeco, etc. – that is largely under-represented in concert programming in the Central Valley.

“This series will be bring together two of the blues legends from Fresno’s golden age of blues in the ’60s-’70s — Bobby Logan and Ed Burke, along with two current blues groups Deja Blues and Square One,” Karr said “We hope to have future blues reviews dedicated to the next generation of blues performers from the Valley.”

Tickets are $10 (general admission) and $5 for students with ID.  Tickets are available online through the Music Department ticket website and will also be available at the door on the night of the event.

Additional information is available by contacting Karr, at jkarr@csufresno.edu or by calling 559.278.7255.
