After a 10 year respite, the Fresno State Gospel Music Choir resumed this spring with a course that features a spring concert from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Concert Hall in the Music Building.

The free, public spring concert, presented by Africana Studies and the Department of Music, will include guest singers and choirs from the Fresno area and a red carpet reception immediately following.

The Gospel Choir originally started nearly 30 years ago and has created an opportunity for Fresno State students and community singers to learn and perform material from historic and contemporary gospel and spiritual music. The course and choir are under the direction of Dr. Asia Smith.

INFO: Smith at asia.smith@comcast.net or Dr. DeAnna Reese, Africana Studies coordinator, at 559.278.2832.
