Recent CineCulture guest scores First Lady’s film

, the featured guest at the most recent CineCulture event, made a big announcement during her Fresno State appearance. 

Shankar did the score for the First Lady’s film, “We Will Rise: Michelle Obama’s Mission to Educate Girls Around the World,” a new film about girls overcoming incredible challenges to achieve their educations and change their lives.

“We Will Rise” premiered yesterday on CNN International on the International Day of the Girl in Asia, Europe, and Africa. The CNN/U.S. premiere is at 6 p.m. PST Wednesday, Oct. 12.

“We Will Rise: Michelle Obama’s Mission to Educate Girls Around the World,” featuring Meryl Streetp, Freida Pinto and Isha Sesay, directed by Tony Gerber. “We Will Rise” will be available on demand beginning Oct. 13 via cable and satellite systems and for CNNgo subscribers.
