Fresno State students and faculty traveled to Chicago this August to attend the Parliament of the World’s Religions. The parliament is an organization whose goal is to cultivate harmony between the religions and spiritualities of the world and was attended by religious leaders and followers, scholars and students.
Through their experience, many students returned from their trip with a deeper knowledge of their own spirituality as well as a deeper appreciation and understanding of other faiths.
Philosophy professor Dr. Veena Howard, whose expertise is in South Asian religious traditions and Gandhi’s philosophy, was elected to the board of trustees for the Parliament of the World’s Religions, a leading global interfaith organization.
