A holiday tradition returns as the Fresno State Symphony Orchestra performs a special concert for the holiday season with traditional favorites including Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus Overture,” the famous waltz “Under Thunder and Lightning” (Unter Donner und Blitz), and the “Radetzky March.”
The Fresno Summer Orchestra Academy (FOOSA), a project of Youth Orchestras of Fresno (YOOF) and Fresno State’s Department of Music, is holding its two-week intensive program June 10-24, on the Fresno State campus. The program centers around the FOOSA Philharmonic, a selective pre-professional level orchestra that provides graduate school, college and high school musicians the opportunity to learn from and work alongside professionals and faculty members.
The Fresno State Symphony Orchestra, directed by Dr. Thomas Loewenheim, will present its third concert of the season at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 3, in the Department of Music Concert Hall. The concert, titled “Spotlight on Students,” will focus on three students from the Music Department.
