The Gala Concert will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 18th, at the Concert Hall. It will showcase the talents of the Festival String Orchestra and feature solo performances by the guest faculty. The program will include works by Ernest Toch, Anton Arensky, Franz Schubert, Paul Hindemith, and Jean Sibelius.
The collection of luscious romantic songs by Tchaikowsky, Rachmaninov, Medtner and others written to the poetry of Pushkin, Goethe and Baudelaire was released through Centaur Records and is available on most streaming platforms.
The Fresno State Music Department will present the sixth annual Violin and Viola Festival, an intensive weekend of master classes and performances for violinists and violists with three or more years of experience. Dr. Limor Toren-Immerman is the music director for the festival.
“Voice and Silence: Women in Opera and Philosophy” is a lecture-recital scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in the Fresno State Concert Hall. In this collaboration between the Department of Music and the Department of Philosophy, soprano Dr. Maria Briggs and philosopher Dr. Tina Botts will explore the role of women in operatic dramas and philosophy.
