‘Lydia’ premieres under direction of Latinx theatre professor

University Theatre is pleased to present the Fresno premiere of Octavio Solis’ “Lydia” under the direction of Dr. Gina Sandí-Díaz, professor of Latinx Theatre at Fresno State. The production will run March 16-24 in the Dennis and Cheryl Woods Theatre in the Speech Arts Building at Fresno State. This production marks the directorial debut of Dr. Gina Sandí-Díaz.

‘The Two Gentlemen of Verona’ receives new life on university stage

A refreshed version of the William Shakespeare classic, “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” will run Dec. 1 – 9 at the John Wright Theatre at Fresno State. The production receives an original and accessible concept by director Brad Myers, and is the third show of University Theatre’s 2017-18 season.

‘Don Giovanni’ lecture-recital brings together musical artists and humanists

Spanish and voice students took their learning outside of the traditional classroom and into Fresno State’s Concert Hall on Friday, for a cross-disciplinary lecture-recital that examined Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.”

This collaborative effort between the Department of Music and the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures combined operatic singing, lecture and a question-and-answer segment in a 50-minute class performance.

NEW FACES: Dr. Gina Sandi-Diaz, Theatre Arts

New theatre professor Gina Sandi-Diaz

Of the 60 new faculty members at Fresno State this fall, about 22% of the new hires are in the College of Arts and Humanities. Dr. Gina Sandi-Diaz joins the Department of Theatre Arts as an assistant professor, coming to Fresno State from the University of Kansas.
