North American Computational Linguistics Open (NACLO)
Dr. Brian Agbayani and Dr. John Boyle, Department of Linguistics
For the first time this year, the Linguistics Department hosted the local high school competition for the North American Computational Linguistics Open (or NACLO), an annual contest in which high school students in the US and Canada compete by solving linguistics and computational linguistics puzzles. NACLO helps students identify potential careers related to languages and language technologies. Participants also exercise problem-solving skills, learn about human languages and computation, and have fun!
