Fresno State’s University Theatre and The Contemporary Dance Ensemble will present its spring dance concert, “Extrapolations 2024,” under the artistic direction of Kenneth Balint.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9-10, 13-17 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11 at the John W. Wright Theatre on campus. Tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for Fresno State faculty, staff, alumni, and military and $10 for all students. Children under 5 are not permitted.

Embark on a captivating and reflective evening of dance with the Contemporary Dance Ensemble under the artistic direction of Kenneth Balint. This innovative and dynamic program will feature choreography by Balint, Collin Bresenio, Bella Dreizler, Alicia Longoria, Kathy Luo, Robert Moses and Chafin Seymore.

Experience the artistry of the Contemporary Dance Ensemble’s passionate performers as they present seven distinct repertory dance works crafted by professional dance artists, faculty and student choreographers. Dive into themes exploring the intricacies of life, passion, human relationships, ostracization, improvisation and the sheer joy of physical movement. The choreographers bring these themes to life through the exceptional talent of dancers such as Shawnee Avila, Aliana Cabuhat, Juana Cardenas, Cassandra Cervantes, Emmalee Escobar, Jose Escobar, Alex Galaviz, Chloe Ito-Haro, Kristine Kemmer, Alicia Longoria, Sophia McAllister, Julia Galvan Moreno, Dominique Garcia Nunez, and Roceo Sy. Notably, Alicia Longoria’s creation, “Take Me With You,” incorporates the music of fellow dancer and composer Kristine Kemmer.

The Contemporary Dance Ensemble is dedicated to achieving and sustaining the highest levels of artistry while celebrating contemporary dance in an academic setting. The ensemble carefully curates its programming with a focus on the diversity within the dance field and its audience. The overarching goal is to welcome, embrace, educate and inspire both those who witness the performance and those who participate in the art of dance.
